Challenge
Our society is ageing, the incidence of people over 65 years old suffering from chronic and neurological diseases has dramatically increased. Continuous and remote patient monitoring at nursing homes will avoid accidents such as falls, traumatic injuries, health problems and similar accidents, that could lead to fatal consequences that take place frequently at nursing and rehabilitation care homes.
Prevention actions and patient security are key factors to face the challenge.
Solutions provided
The goal of this project is to develop further the sensor solution of nevisQ. At the moment, different events like a person falling or getting up from bed can be identified. In this project, these events will be collected in a platform to analyze the behavior of each elderly resident over time and identify critical cahnges The project aims to have a first working prototype of this platform which can be used by nurses in their everyday work With a special focus on patients with physical and mental illnesses, the project seeks to demonstrate the potential efficacy and success of the solution developed by nevisQ for monitoring a patient´s condition within a health care facility without direct supervision, promoting patient security, and avoiding hospital referrals and hospitalizations due to falls or health deterioration in in nursing homes or day care centers.
Consortium strength
Aura Andalucía will work together with nevisQ to build an integrated system solution to prevent falls, other dangerous situations and sicknesses. nevisQ will develop the sensor system for care and health facilities that recognizes and analyzes activities in the room. Aura Andalucia will test the solution in a real clinical scenario and will carry out a clinical study, designed together with University of Deusto, to prove the outcomes of the project.
Business development
The solution proposed with this project will avoid hospital referrals and hospitalization of patients from nursing and rehabilitations centers. The fact to be one step ahead of the accident or disease and its consequences is crucial. Giving support to nursing and rehabilitation centers through technological tools that can monitor patient status 24/365 without direct supervision within and outside the rooms has shown to be helpful. The solution is going to act as “eyes and ears into the rooms”, but in a non-intrusive way.
